Pixel: Mycetinis

Small luminescent mushroom in glass dome.

Mycetinis is a genus of fungus in the Marasmiaceae family. The Dictionary of the Fungi (10th edition, 2008) reports that it is a widespread genus containing eight species.

Mycetinis has an long stalk with a red cap. The light is yellow, but the light turns red at the top. The light is strong enough to be visible during the day, and would make a lovely night light. Mycetinis is placed on top of a small heap of soil and surrounded by dried moss. This mushroom light is part of the Pixel series.
